A World Stage
Mankind is a part of nature... a natural product of the earth. Bio systems evolve towards intelligence, and intelligence towards controlling more and more of its surroundings.

Our ancestors made the unconscious decision that we were going to rule the earth - for a while.

So far, our rule has not been an auspicious one... we have exploited our kingdom to the point of near ruin. Our assets have been squandered, our servants, the animal and plants, have been abused and our atmosphere poisoned.

Do we now return to our caves and cower in the dark again, or do we accept the challenge to sort out the problems using our best weapon - our intelligence.

Terrorism is minor squabbling among men... men who are disaffected for whatever reason. It diverts us from the real issue which is to accept humankind's role as the current rulers of the Earth. We may not have asked to be put in this position, but here we are: the only animal with a chance of re-floating the ship. Climate change is widely acknowledged to be the biggest environmental threat faced by the world. Leading scientists warn that a million species face extinction because of global warming, and the UK Government's Chief Scientific Officer, Sir David King, describes climate change as a bigger threat than global terrorism.

Why invade Iraq when Indonesia burns? The permanent underground fires are a far larger global threat for those whose eyes are open to the big issues!

The world is watching. Future Leaders, it is your time to stand up and be counted.
